The memorial stone at the Grönsfurth

The Easter Market in Haithabu was once again a celebration, a big thanks to the organisers, the Viking Museum and to all the people we had a wonderful time with.

The rain dampened our spirits and the number of visitors a little, but after two months of drought, a rainy weekend was much needed. So who are we to complain! On the other hand, our tent will soon need replacing as after four years it tends to have leaky spots after a longer shower.

As usual, we were very lazy during the winter break (i.e. those two weeks before Easter). As a result, the range of goods was noticeably reduced towards the end of the market and Will had to get out to the workshop quickly after returning home to make enough new stuff for the market in Ribe in May. Here is a small sample of what we will be bringing with us:

Obstholz-Spinnware

Spinning utensils made of fruitwood (Nøstepinne, spinning rod and Oseberg made of plum wood, spindle made of cherry). The grain of the plum wood is exceptionally beautiful, and due to the limited nature of this beautiful wood, the price will be slightly higher than usual.

We look forward to meeting many of you next week again and continue being busy in the meantime.
